“A Wandering Mind Is An Unhappy Mind”

Apr 2, 2022

Harvard researchers concluded A Wandering Mind Is An
Unhappy Mind
based on studying the daily focus and
mood of thousands of peoples.

It was discovered that when the mind is unfocused it
defaults to what hasn’t worked in our lives.

What is the antidote? A focused mind. A focused mind
is a happy mind
.

When your mind wonders, rein it in by focusing on
your breath, a mantra, a mandala or a project. Let
yourself be immersed. Get into the flow of focus.

Scientific evidence shows focus quiets the monkey
mind, down-regulates the nervous system and
increases our abilities to be attentive to others and
less on ourselves.

The less focused we are on ourselves the happier and
more content we are.

The course [S-T-R-E-T-C-H!] allowed me to ‘stretch’ my ability to practice what I preach. Philip was very competent and helpful to all of us. It was a great experience. Thank you Ann-Marie, Philip, and Brittany!

As a certified EMDR therapist working as a psychotherapist for the past 12 years, my focus has been helping others deal with the aftermath of trauma. That has taken a toll on my soul. This was my first class with a focus on positive psychology. I am left with a stirring feeling of hope that I can truly help others to thrive, not just survive. Thank you! Another wonderful course with Ann-Marie. Learning about and implementing aspects of Positive Psychology, Signature Strengths and the Wheel of Life are valuable tools both for self-growth and helping others achieve their goals. Wonderful coaching sessions and discussions in a warm, comfortable and engaging setting.

Learning how to listen deeply to the wisdom of the body and to trust that we are fluent in our own somatic language has provided such a valuable coaching tool and life practice.

The experience of participating in S-T-R-E-T-C-H! was one of the most fulfilling and inspiring in my entire life. The curriculum was approached from A to Z. The mindfulness practices at the beginning of each session, and the recommendations for practices of gratitude, compassion, recognition of our heroes, and action boards had a dimension that made me grow, and expand as a human being. There is always so much space to travel within ourselves, making us more approachable, centered, and focused on what is important in the coaching practice, and by extension, in life. I am very thankful to Mindfulness Coaching School, Ann-Marie, Brittany, Philip, Kelly, and my fellow class students. There is a real community there!

Meg is a great coach and teacher. She has very kind presence and incorporates variety of exercises and approaches to coaching which makes learning fun and interesting. The NVC proves to be the language of life and I love to see all of us really live this language with people around us.

In this class, the “engaged” piece of Engaged Mindfulness is just as important as the “mindfulness” piece. I was inspired by this dynamic exploration of the subject of mindfulness, from the evidence-based, scientific arena — where we learn about the measurable, practical benefits to humankind of mindfulness practice — to the deeply personal space — where I clarified and re-engaged my own meditation practice both on the cushion and in how I move through the world
