Welcome to class! We are so looking forward to having you in The Art of Engaged Mindfulness:Settling the Mind for Intuition to Emerge for Spring 2020.

On this page, you’ll learn how to get set up for online classes through Mindfulness Coaching School.  Please read carefully and complete this set-up no later than the Friday before class begins. This will allow us to make the best use of our limited class time.  Let’s get started!

There are two primary tech platforms that MCS students are required to use in order participate fully in each course: Zoom and Schoology. Both of these platforms are simple and easy to use. They require only a few minutes of your time to set up and sign in.

1. Zoom

Class sessions are conducted live via video chat on Zoom. Students log in to a virtual classroom where they can see, hear, and talk to each other and their instructor. It is very important that you have a steady internet connection when you log in for class each session. If absolutely necessary, you can also call into class using a phone; however, because you will not be able to see your instructor or your instructor’s screen, this is not recommended.

Is this your first time using Zoom? If yes, you’ll need to first create an account! Once you have an account, click here to register with Zoom as a participant in The Art of Engaged Mindfulness.

After registering, watch for a confirmation email with your options for joining. Save that email! You’ll need those numbers to join class each week. Take time to familiarize yourself with Zoom before class begins. If you plan to join via computer or smart phone, you’ll need to install the Zoom application. Make sure you’re comfortable with the various options for connecting, how to un/mute yourself, and how your space appears in the background.

2. Schoology

In addition to live class sessions on Zoom, we use Schoology to post homework assignments, course guidebooks, coaching forms, and links to other resources. We also use Schoology to take attendance, host written discussion forums, and communicate with students.

If you are registered for more than one course with MCS, you can join (and access) each of those courses through your one Schoology account. You do not need to create a different Schoology account for each course.

Again, it is important that you create your Schoology account before classes begin, so that we do not waste valuable class time working through tech issues.

If you already have a Schoology account, then log in, click on “Courses” in the top menu bar, and then choose “Join a Course.” Enter in the course’s Access Code: 9ZDW-R6CK-3PF77

If you are new to Schoology, follow these instructions. To begin, go to www.schoology.com

-In the upper right, click on “Sign up.”
-Choose “Student.”
-Enter in the Access Code for your course. For The Art of Engaged Mindfulness, our Access Code is: 9ZDW-R6CK-3PF77 (feel free to copy + paste)
-Click “Continue.”
-Fill out the short form with your name, email, password, etc.
-Click “Register.”

To look at your course page, click on “Course Dashboard” or “Courses” at the top and then click on your course.

Please also:
-Click on your name in the upper right corner.
-Select “Your Profile”
-Click on the large blue box on the left-hand side of your profile and upload a photo of yourself. This helps our instructors remember who’s who and better engage with each of you personally!
